Just like all other healthcare fields, researchers, scientists, and engineers are looking for ways to make patient care better. Research on techniques, treatments, and of course, technology, allows professionals like our dentists to make educated decisions on how to improve Parkview Dental and the patient experience every time you visit. Below, you can read about a few of the instruments we’ve added to make our practice not only modern, but more enjoyable and productive.

Digital X-Rays

Part of your routine checkups includes digital X-rays, which capture details about your teeth, roots, and bone tissue. This diagnostic tool is incredibly important to your long-term oral health. Thankfully, there’s no need to worry about long development times, high levels of radiation, or harsh chemicals just to complete X-rays. By going digital, we can skip the use of harsh chemicals, lower radiation exposure by over 85% on average, and review the many layers of your oral structures within minutes of scanning.

Intraoral Camera

Your routine exams are meant to be highly detailed and comprehensive to ensure no issues go unmissed. Our intraoral camera, a small, handheld device, aids our dentists in this process. After placing the camera into your mouth, we can easily capture high-resolution images of your teeth, gums, and other areas of interest, then display them on a chairside monitor for additional examination. Not only does this help keep patients engaged during exams, but we can use the images when filing insurance claims.

Cone Beam CT Scanner

Digital X-rays can go a long way, but sometimes more advanced diagnostic and planning tools are needed before completing certain treatments. That’s where our in-house cone beam CT scanner makes all the difference. With it, we can capture highly detailed 3D images of your mouth and jaw, pinpoint sensitive areas like your nerves, blood vessels, and nasal pathways, and create treatment plans better personalized to your needs. From dental implant placement to sleep apnea therapy and more, cone beam CT scanners have proven to be extremely useful.

Digital Impression System

If you’ve avoided getting dental crowns because you didn’t want to bite into the gray putty-like impression material traditionally found in dental offices, you can leave your concerns at the door. Our digital impression system is designed to scan your mouth in real-time, capturing hundreds of detailed images in the process. These pictures are recompiled in our computer to create a 3D image of your mouth, which is then used to design highly customized dental crowns, oral appliances, and more!

Soft Tissue Laser

Soft tissue lasers have become increasingly common in dental offices for a variety of reasons. Not only can they allow us to use greater precision when performing procedures like gum disease therapy or decay removal, we can conserve even more healthy portions of your tissue and other oral structures. Soft tissue lasers also provide better comfort for patients and reduce healing associated with certain treatments, meaning you can get back to your day-to-day with minimal interruptions.
